MSG James Kuritz

MSG James and Lauren Kuritz married in 2016, and their daughter Mia was born in October 26 th
2016 and their son Caleb was born on November 8 th 2019. MSG Kuritz enlisted into the Army in
2004. After One Station Unit training and Abrams SEP V3 training, he was assigned to 1-66
Armor Regiment at Fort Hood, TX where he deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in
2005. Following PCS to South Korea 2007- 2009 he was assigned to 1-72 Armor Regiment. 1SG
Kuritz then PCS’d to Fort Hood from 2009-2013 and was assigned to 2-7 Cavalry Regiment
where he deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in 2010 as a tank gunner.
Following his PCS in 2013-2017, 1SG Kuritz was assigned to 1-66 Armor Regiment Fort Carson,
Colorado where he completed two years of Platoon Sergeant time. He then deployed in support
of Operation Spartan Shield, in Germany, where he conducted the Nordic International Tank
Competition in Denmark. Upon returning from Germany in 2015 1SG Kuritz also Graduated
Master Gunner School.

In 2017-2021 1SG Kuritz PCS’d to Fort Benning where he was assigned to NCOA, where he
helped rewrite Armor ALC POI and earned his Instructor Badge. Following his PCS to Fort Riley,
Kansas he was assigned to 1-18 Infantry Regiment where he was the Chaos Company 1SG and
did a rotation to Bulgaria. MSG Kuritz when then assigned to be the 1SG of HHC 1-18IN Until his
PCS to the University of Notre Dame in July of 2024.

MSG Kuritz has deployed six times throughout the world. His major awards include the
Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal and the
Combat Action Badge. He is a graduate of the Master Gunner School, Common Faculty
Development Instructor Course, Common Faculty Development Developer Course, Equal
Opportunity Course and the Gunnery Simulation Training Management Manager Course
