Sfc Bracket

Born and raised in Ramsay, Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, MSG Peter A. Bracket served over fourteen years in the United States Army Infantry. Upon completion of Basic Training and AIT at Fort Benning Georgia, MSG Bracket was assigned to C Company 2-502nd Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division (AASLT), Fort Campbell KY, where he deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom March 2003 until February 2004, and then again from October 2005 till September 2006. MSG Bracket’s third deployment to Iraq with the 2-502nd Infantry was with the Scout Platoon and B Company from October 2007 until November 2008. MSG Bracket performed duties as a Rifleman, Javelin Anti-Armor Gunner, Team Leader, Squad Leader, Scout Recon Squad Leader, and Platoon Sergeant.

After MSG Bracket’s third deployment, he was selected by the Department of the Army to serve as a Drill Sergeant at Fort Benning’s 198th BDE, Basic Infantryman and AIT training, Sand Hill Fort Benning Georgia. While performing Drill Sergeant duties, MSG Bracket was assigned as a Senior Drill Sergeant in C Company 2-19 Infantry from October 2009 until October 2011.

After Drill Sergeant duties, MSG Bracket was once again stationed at Fort Campbell KY, but this time with Delta (Whiskey) Company 2-506th Infantry Regiment, “White Currahee”. While assigned to the Heavy Weapons Company, MSG Bracket served as a Platoon Sergeant for 32 months and deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom 13-14. In October of 2014, MSG Bracket was re-assigned to Charlie (Fox) Company 2-506th Infantry Regiment, where he served as company First Sergeant from October 2014 until October 2015. MSG Bracket reported to the Fighting Irish Battalion Army ROTC Program in November of 2015 where he is currently a Military Science Instructor.

MSG Bracket’s awards and decorations include the Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Metal (4 OLC), Army Achievement Medal (2 OLC), Valorous Unit Award, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Expert Infantryman’s Badge, Combat Infantryman’s Badge, Air Assault Badge, Pathfinder Badge, Drill Sergeant Badge, and Rappel Master.

MSG Bracket has four children: Payton, Dawson, Darwin, and Morgan.
